In siSwati, the indigenous language of Swaziland, Moya means air, breath, spirit and wind. This wind brought together Moesha and Jonathan and friends to form Moya. Moesha, from Swaziland, sings in siSwati with a sweet, soulful voice. Jonathan accompanies her on guitar. Moesha and Jonathan, the founder members, were performing together for a number of years in Southern Africa, before moving to the UK in 2003 with this exciting new project. A debut album, ‘Bambelela’ was released in 2005. Although Moya still perform occasionally as an acoustic duo, the full band has wooed the crowds and had them jumping and shouting for more. Moesha and Jonathan have now relocated back to Southern Africam based in Joburg, working on a second album.
